Dmitry Davydenko took part in a Russian-German research project funded by Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law (Hamburg, Germany). The subject matter of the research has been the practice and issues of consent awards in international commercial arbitration. The results of the research are intended for publication in Russian, EU and/or US arbitration periodicals.

Dmitry Davydenko took part in the international conference “International Arbitration and Mediation in CIS Countries and USA” held on 23-24 June 2011 in Saint-Petersburg with his report “Enforceability of Mediated Settlement Agreements: Western European Experience”. The conference was organized by the Center of Arbitration and Mediation at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the editorial board of the “Arbitration” journal.

Dmitry Davydenko took part in the International Conference “Mediation Development in Russia: Theory, Practice, Education” held on 7-8 April 2011 in the city of Voronezh with his report “Mediation and Arbitration: Legal Problems of Interaction”. The conference was organized by the law faculty of the Voronezh State University, the Center of Arbitration and Mediation at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Center of Legal Technologies and Mediation of the Ural State Law Academy, the editorial board of the “Arbitration” journal.

President of the Institute Alexander Muranov took part in the Working Group on Private International Law operating within the Codification Council at the President of the Russian Federation. The Working Group prepared draft amendments to the Division VI “Private International Law” of the Russian Civil Code which can now be consulted at the website of the High Arbitrazh Court of the Russian Federation and the website of the Private Law Research Center.

The first stage of the international Russian-German research project on enforcement of international arbitral awards has been successfully completed. As a result articles have been published in German Arbitration Journal, American Review of International Arbitration and Russian law magazine Zakon.

President of the Institute Alexander Muranov took part at II International Law Conference “Commercial Arbitration in Russia, Sweden and England: new business opportunities.”
On June 9-10, 2010 II International Law Conference “Commercial Arbitration in Russia, Sweden and England: new business opportunities” was held in Moscow. The conference was organized by the British company Capital Business Events. It was also supported by the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, the Anglo-Russian Law Association (ARLA), the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of Great Britain. In the course of the conference various reports on key practical and legal issues, international commercial arbitration problems were given by the leading specialists from Russia, Sweden and England.
Alexander Muranov took part in the round table conference “Does institutional arbitration meet the needs of business?” The following issues were discussed at the said conference: adequacy of rules, adequacy of the amount of services and costs, relation between costs - disputed value – quality of the awards, speediness of the proceedings, diversity of services.
Dmitry Davydenko gave a speech on the “Problems of a Mediator’s Ethics in Foreign Practice” at the round table conference dedicated to development of the code of professional ethics of a mediator. The round table was hosted by the Centre for Arbitration and Mediation at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia and supported by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

President of the Institute Alexander Muranov was included into the second Russian listing of Best Lawyers publication drawn up after a survey among the leading representatives of legal community in Russia
In 2010 Alexander Muranov was recommended as one of the top Russian experts in the energy and natural resources sectors.
A person may be elected as one of the best lawyers, according to the said publication version, after an exhaustive and thorough analysis of over three million expert opinions confidentially submitted by leading lawyers to their colleagues. The rating is an objective reflection of the law firms’ activity at the domestic market. Bearing in mind that no fee is paid by the lawyers to participate in the said rating, the inclusion into the Best Lawyers list is even of greater significance.
The UNCITRAL placed in CLOUT abstracts of Russian court cases relating to the New York Convention on Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards prepared with our participation.

Federal Chamber of Advocates Bulletin published the translation into Russian of the Commentary to the IBA Council ‘Rule of Law’ Resolution. The translation was edited by Alexander I. Muranov, President of the Institute.

President of the Institute Alexander Muranov has become winner of the highest Russian award in jurisprudence “Themis”.
Alexander Muranov has been proclaimed winner of the highest Russian lawyers’ award “Themis” in the “Bar” category for his high professionalism, dedication to legal profession, successful provision of legal assistance in Russian and foreign courts, promoting standards of high-quality legal services in Russia, strengthening relations between Russian and foreign lawyers associations. The solemn ceremony took place on 13 February 2010 at the Moscow theater “New Opera”. The “Themis” award was instituted in 1996 by the Moscow Club of Lawyers. Since 2008 its cofounder is the Association of Russian Lawyers. The award is annually presented to Russian and foreign law practitioners and scholars, public officials and legal entities for contributing to the formation of democratic society and promotion of the Rule of Law.

Participation in the revision of the draft Federal Law “On introduction of amendments to the Federal Law “On the Securities Market” (with regard to establishment of the mechanisms aimed at protection of the bond holders’ rights), forwarded by the Government of the Russian Federation.
Participation in the revision of the draft Federal Law “On introduction of amendments to some legislative acts of the Russian Federation with regard to review of limitations imposed on the business entities’ formation of their authorized capitals, review of the methods of the creditors’ rights protection in the event of decrease of the authorized capital, change of requirements to the business entities in the event of discrepancy between the authorized capital and the net assets value, review of limitations associated with the business entities’ issuance of bonds”, forwarded by the Government of the Russian Federation.
